Proofreading Essays Online For Free

If you are a blogger or a freelance writer, I am sure you must be aware that how important quality of content is to attract readers. Many of us spend maximum time in deciding topic according to targeted audience, creating drafts, rewriting the final article, but we hardly give much time to proofread. Proofreading is a vital part of any article; it helps you to improve the quality of an article.

As a blogger, I have to keep a check on the quality of my article, especially when English is not my first language. I often make silly mistakes like using active/passive voice, tense, etc. When I started blogging, I used to hate proofreading.

Later I came to realize that once I finish writing my article, it’s better to proofread next day or after few hours. This way my mind is fresh, and there are chances that few new ideas click while correcting my article. Still, I make many mistakes, but proof-reading helps me to reduce the number of mistakes in my writing.

Here are few things which I keep in mind while proofreading an article:

  • Take a break before proofreading your finished article. It’s better if you proofread after an hour or better next day.
  • Select a quiet place to proofread your article, so that you don’t lose your concentration.
  • Read aloud. This way you can easily figure out what’s wrong with sentence structure.
  • Edit as soon as you find any error, don’t wait until you read the whole document.
  • Use proofreading tools.

I always prefer to use proofreading tools (generally online). Whenever I start proofreading my article, I use proofreading tool so that I can get errors in my article quickly and I can edit them. But even after using proofreading tool, it’s important that you read your articles once more so that if there is any grammatical error, then you can fix it.

Here I am listing such five online proofreading tools which will help you to improve the quality of your article. Do remember, none of these tools can be 100% accurate as by the end of the day they are just a  machine. Still, it will help you to lower down the number of common English mistakes we make.

Ginger is another proofreading tool I  like. It works almost same like Polishmywriting, but it also takes care of your “article error” like using the, a, an. There is an extension for ginger proofreading available so that you can proofread your document quickly.
